Oh hai my forgotten journal

Actually, it's not forgotten. I just haven't had any real motivation to update for a while, plus I've not been playing and taking pics as much of either CoH or Guild Wars.

Aaaand a few scenery pics from Paragon City, home to heroes (clicky for bigger):

Scenes from Around the Villain Isles

Some various environments found in the Rogue Isles, main setting of City of Villains (all clicky for biggy...er).

Fun Screenshot Sequences

Sometimes I get a chance to click off several screens in a row, giving me a cool sequence. Too little to be an animation, but enough so you can see the progression. Here's a few of those (click for bigger versions, natch):

City of Heroes/Villains Glossary

Some helpful concepts to know for when I blather about CoX. Or you can pick it up as you go along, I guess, but this is so you don't have to. Warning: quite long. I tried to arrange it so the most common terms were earliest, though. See also: MMO generay glossary.

What's so great about Guild Wars?

Now for the flipside: a very traditional fantasy MMO that I like quite a bit.

Let's start with this: there's no monthly fee. Right there that makes it great for me since I have this tendency to drop something I'm doing for a while and do something else. Sure, we had to sink a bunch of money into the actual games, but that's a one-time purchase.

What's so great about City of Heroes?

Of the MMOs I've tried or otherwise know something about, City of Heroes (/Villains) is the most atypical, and I think that's the major reason I like it so much.

Gaming and Health

2008 was really nasty health-wise for me which has really done a lot to keep my ability to regularly play games (or do much of anything else) sort of erratic. For instance, right now I'm on something like day 7 of tension headaches, which isn't so bad in terms of pain but because of the type of pain is very very distracting. I'll probably lay down again after typing this up.

What's This?

Sometimes I mention other games on my Sims blog (Person Person Plus Plus). I've decided to go ahead and make a secondary blog for my non-Sims gaming (and sometimes other blather), and just post pointers here from there and my Sims' LJ for people who are interested.
