Hall of Monuments Synergies

[Confused? Start here.]

There's a number of different combinations of things you can do to simultaneously work on earning multiple points towards your Hall of Monuments. They're similar to the synergies possible between multiple titles (themselves useful for HoM points, of course), so you may already be familiar with these, but it might be worth reading through just in case.

Protector/Guardian statues
Eternal Hero statues
Kurzick/Luxon faction titles and/or Nightfall rank titles

If you're going to be doing the missions in a campaign, you may as well be working on the Protector and/or Guardian titles. Those require you to get the bonus/Master's reward, so it's not quite as straight-forward as simply finishing the mission, but for the most part, you should find it possible to get the bonus/Master's in normal mode without much problem. Guardian is a bit trickier, at least in Factions and Nightfall (in Prophecies, the bonus structure usually makes it not much harder in hard mode), but if you've been successful with hard mode at all, you probably will find it possible. If you don't succeed the first time, you can always try again later.

How this fits in with the titles is two-fold: first, you'll get appropriate title bonuses or faction awards for missions related to the faction in question. You can increase those bonuses by taking appropriate Zaishen missions (which will, incidentally, also earn you Zcoins, which can be used to help out with several other HoM statues). Secondly, if you pick up and fill a storybook—even partially, past a certain minimum—you can turn that book in for points applied towards the title. Once you reach rank 8 in Sunspear or rank 5 in Lightbringer, you can no longer turn in normal mode books to get that bonus, but you can always turn in hard mode books. Kurzick and Luxon have no such limit (note the books award title points, not spendable faction).

You do not have to get the bonus/Master's reward to get credit for a mission in a storybook. Likewise, while you will get more Zcoins by getting the bonus, as well as even more for running in hard mode, you can earn at least a few just by completing the mission at all, and you will earn the bonus points or faction regardless. And you get your Eternal Hero of [Location] statue for finishing the campaign, regardless of whether or not you got those bonuses/Master rewards.

A reminder: if you find there are a couple missions you simply can't manage to get the bonus/Master's on in either mode, you will often find it's possible to pay someone else to help you with that mission. It's easier to find those people either at the outpost for missions that are widely regarded as difficult, or when there's a Zaishen mission available for them (often for a day or two after the day it's given, as well).

Vanquisher statues
Kurzick/Luxon statues
Sunspear/Lightbringer statues
Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, Lucky, and Unlucky statues
Cartographer statues
Amber/Jade for Kurzick/Luxon armor

Although you will have to max Treasure Hunter or Wisdom to put them into the HoM, which will take much longer than simply working through one character's Vanquisher titles, it's still worthwhile to note that hard mode is an easy way to acquire points towards them, as all locked chests count towards Treasure Hunter, and gold drops are somewhat more common in hard mode. And since Lucky/Unlucky require only rank 2 to be displayable as statues, you stand a good chance at picking them up just from working on your Vanquisher titles.

Since all rank titles except Kurzick and Luxon both require you to max them to display the associated statue and have a limit as to how far you can progress in normal mode (usually 8, excepting Lightbringer, which tops out at 5), you will need to earn a fair number of points during hard mode for each one. The rank titles are: the aforementioned Kurzick/Luxon, Nightfall's Sunspear (mainly earned pre-Desolation) and Lightbringer (mainly earned in the Desolation and later), and EotN's Asura, Norn, and Ebon Vanguard titles (there's also Deldrimor in EotN, but you can't earn it via vanquishing). The EotN titles are covered below under "Legendary Master of the North".

In all cases, including Kurzick and Luxon, one of the fastest ways to earn the points in hard mode is vanquishing. Even without bounties, each zone corresponding to one of those factions will automatically give you title points or faction (Kurzick/Luxon) as a bonus for vanquishing it.

In Nightfall, various shrines offer different bounties (for different mob types), but it can't hurt to take them all as you come across them unless you're basically finished with the zone.

Kurzick and Luxon bounties also should be taken when possible, but you should keep this in mind: to get those bounties, the zone you are working on needs to be under at least partial control of the relevant faction—Kurzick in the case of Echovald zones, and Luxon in the case of Jade Sea zones. It's probably not worthwhile to take a bounty of the opposite faction while vanquishing those zones, as spending faction from one side reduces the faction you have earned for the other, making it undesirable to earn both at once. If a zone is only partially held by each side, carefully picking which outpost you leave from can still let you take a bounty (but be warned that not every outpost has a priest directly outside it). Note you can take your choice of a Kurzick or Luxon bounty in Pongmei Valley (depending on which outpost you leave from), as Pongmei Valley itself awards no bonus points.

This also is where the amber and jade come in. Since vanquishing awards you faction points, you can spend those points on either amber or jade. Although you get more points towards the title by "donating" faction to your guild/alliance, you can only do this if your guild/alliance is affiliated with one of the two factions, and you can't do it with the opposite faction. However, the 5000 points you turn in for amber or jade is applied to the relevant title regardless of your guild/alliance affiliation.

Since you typically have to go through the bulk of the zone just to find all the enemies to vanquish it, vanquishing provides a very good opportunity to work on the local Cartographer title. Making a circle around the outside edge of a zone will find you a fair number of the enemies you need to defeat and allow you to simultaneously "edge scrape" (facing the outside of the zone and moving along the edge, turning the camera back and forth as you go). Although you will still need to also explore outposts and mission areas, you get a very large portion of the points in explorable zones (and in Factions and Nightfall, missions often share area with an explorable in any event). Underground areas do not count for this title.

Legendary Master of the North
EotN rank titles
Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, Lucky, and Unlucky titles
Destroyer weapons

To get Legendary Master of the North requires you to do a number of things that are going to directly earn you EotN rank title points, so it's a fairly obvious synergy, but I still have some tips.

As with Factions and Nightfall, EotN offers shrine bounties. They work a bit differently, in that they offer random bonuses every 25 kills, including additional bonus rank title points. You also can speak to another bounty giver once you have the bounty after each 25 kills to get additional bonus points or a chance at a new level of bounty (giving you additional points per kill). The longer you wait, the larger the bonus or rank up is likely to be, so if you're staying in a zone a while (for instance, if you're vanquishing), you may want to hold off on checking in at a shrine until 50 or 100 enemies, when you're fairly likely to get rank ups, and then wait until you're ready to leave the zone to check in a final time.

You should always take a bounty whenever you go into a zone, no matter how little time you expect to spend there, unless you are in normal mode and have hit rank 8 in the zone's associated title track, at which point bounties are not available for that title. You will get a surprising number of points if you always remember to take a bounty.

EotN has no regular chests; they're all locked chests. This means that even in normal mode you'll earn progress towards the four treasure-related titles. You're more likely to earn Lucky points in normal mode due to the better lockpick retention rate, whereas in hard mode you're more likely to get Unlucky, but you'll always get both. You're also more likely to get gold rarity items in hard mode, but you should get a reasonably steady supply of them in normal mode.

There are two storybooks for EotN, one for the primary quest chain, and one for dungeons. This means you can turn in a total of four books (two in normal mode, two in hard mode) without duplicating content. If you plan to re-run content—for instance, if you enjoy the dungeons and plan to do them more than once—you actually can own additional storybooks by putting your current one in storage and requesting another; you can also request a new one after turning the old one in. Normal mode books will only give you points if you are not yet rank 8 in the relevant title track. After that, only hard mode books may be turned in. The books give you a substantial boost to a title track.

Vanquishing zones, as with the campaigns, will get you rank title points both via the bounties you should be taking and with a bonus on completing each zone. You can't get Deldrimor points in this fashion, but each zone corresponds to one of the other three title tracks. As with campaign vanquishing, this is a good time to explore the zones, as exploration points count towards the Master of the North title track.

Dungeons award bonus points in specific title tracks for completing; which title depends on the location of the dungeon. They also allow you to take shrine bounties for the Deldrimor title, which work the same way bounties in the explorable zones do. You get more bonus points the first time you do a dungeon in each mode, but repeating a dungeon still awards some points.

Running dungeons is also a good way of obtaining onyx for your Destroyer weapons, as it's where the majority of onyx comes from. Although there's never any guarantees with drops, doing all the dungeons is likely to net you enough onyx for at least one destroyer weapon. In hard mode, when hidden treasure rewards tend to be better, you might tend to get more, although it depends on whether or not the random number generator likes you. You are also likely to get the diamonds you need via dungeons.

Lastly, for granite for destroyer weapons, there's two trophy drops in EotN that can salvage into a decent amount of it: golem runestones from Oola's Lab, and stone grawl necklaces from the Grawl in the Charr Homelands. (The latter can also be turned in 8:1 for honeycombs, if you prefer, but you might find the granite more useful.)

Eternal Conquerer of the Domain of Anguish
Tormented weapons
Upgraded heroes
Lightbringer statue
mini Mallyx (maybe)

The "Mallyx the Unyielding" quest available in the Gate of Anguish is what you need to complete to get the Eternal Conquerer statue. It also is what will make the bosses who can drop Primeval armor remnants for your heroes spawn.

Each area of the DoA has a quest inside it hat goes with the local Mallyx the Unyielding quest; once you complete the quest inside the area, the boss of the area will spawn, allowing you to get credit towards Mallyx the Unyielding should you kill it.

The various areas of the DoA have shrines with Whisper Informants who will can give you a Lightbringer bounty (if you're not yet at rank 5 in normal mode, or always in hard mode). In addition, finishing each local quest as well as the Mallyx quest award Lightbringer points.

Killing a boss may award you with a Primeval Armor Remnant to upgrade your heroes with. In addition, it will spawn two things: a chest (which will contain at least one Anguish Gemstone and may also award you an armor remnant) and a Spirit of Truth, to whom you can turn in a set of 15 of each Anguish Gemstone to get an Armbrace of Truth.

Since every mob inside the DoA has a chance to drop Anguish Gemstones, even if you can't get the statue on your first try, all attempts towards it can build up those gemstones. Any leftover gemstones after you're done getting Tormented weapons can be turned in for a Coffer of Whispers, which can drop a miniature Mallyx, although the drop rate is very low. (On the other hand, most of the other rewards are also good, so even if you don't get a mini, you'll probably get some worthwhile loot.)

Gamer statue
Zaishen Supporter statue
Drunkard, Sweet Tooth, and/or Party Animal

You might be thinking, "Well, gee, some of these tips are really kinda obvious." And maybe they are. But here's one I think fewer people think about.

The best awards of points in the Gamer title are for winning Costume Brawl (really, go play it now!) and Dwayna vs Grenth (twice a year!). But even if you lose, you will pick up Balthazar faction, and every 5000 faction gained is one Zaishen key (and 5k less you have to spend to buy said keys).

If you win, not only do you get Gamer points (and more Balthazar faction), but you will get Trick or Treat Bags (Costume Brawl) or Candy Cane Shards (DvG) that can be turned in for Wintersday Gifts. And those contain alcohol, sweets, and festive items for your consumable titles.
